About Uptown Portraits

I didn’t always know I wanted to become a photographer, but I always wanted my work to be related to people and some kind of art… So as my time in theater taught me to appreciate visual art. My passion for photography started after my first camera one year and I immediately became excited about every little nuance in a professional photographer’s routine. Eventually, I began taking classes and reading any tutorial I could get my hands on. I was in photography love. Then in the summer of 2002, I had my little baby girl. I have been photographing every little move she has made and I feel like I’ve become an even better photographer since having my own family. I know what I want in a picture as a parent and I know what I want in a picture as an artist.

Sov is fantastic! He is flexible, kind, and patient- always going with the flow and still making the shoot look and feel flawless. He has a way of finding joy and beauty in the not perfect moments. We like to say that “he can make any setting look amazing!” We’ll always treasure the way he’s captured our daughter’s Quinceanera. If you have an event you won’t regret it!

Sov,
We want to send you a HUGE THANKS for photographing our special day. I knew the 1st time we met that I wanted you to be our photographer, and I knew we were going to have fun! I really loved our day and it turned out better than expected and the pictures capture all of that.

I’ve always wanted to capture my pregnancy on film because it is such a sweet period in life and it lasts for such a short time! This was made possible thanks to Mary the Photographer, who did awesome photos.

This above all: to thine own self be true.
